Radiant Solid-State Turn Coordinators for Portable and Panel Use
We've reworked our original Turn Coordinator to deliver fluid motion, crisp readability, and solid stability across temperature changes. You'll also see an 8-step pilot-selectable dimmer for day, dusk, and night.
You'll see a daylight-readable color LCD that shows digital yaw rate (deg/sec), a central aircraft symbol for turn direction, and a bubble-style roll inclinometer for coordination.
It delivers crisp, high-contrast graphics, automatic dimming, and rock-solid reliability in a compact 2¼" package – now also available in a 3⅛" format for standard panels. No vacuum system, no moving parts, no drama. It gives you modern, solid-state turn information in three flexible formats:
- SafeTurn Portable – Compact, battery-powered Turn Coordinator with “ball,” ideal as a grab-and-go backup or to move between aircraft. Internal battery and typical runtime, making it truly portable (no panel mounting required). 3⅛" holster for mounting is available.
- 2 1/4" Panel Turn Coordianator
- 3 1/8" Panel Turn Coordinator
These are both ship-powered panel-mount units designed to drop into standard instrument holes as a modern replacement for legacy vacuum or electric gyros. They have the same internals, just different bezel sizes.
All three share the same solid-state sensor core, neon-blue LCD graphics, and a clean two-button interface, so once you’re familiar with one, the others feel instantly natural.
Available in three versions
- 2 1/4" Panel Turn Coordinator ($199.95) IN STOCK AT AIRCRAFT SPRUCE
- 3 1/8" Panel Turn Coordinator ($199.95) Pre-Order
- Portable SafeTurn ($199.95) IN STOCK AT AIRCRAFT SPRUCE
How it compares (past generation to now)
- Motion: it was stepwise; now it's silky.
- Legibility: better, smoother appearance in every detail.
- Stability: tighter temp comp.
- Configuration Options: Set the Gyro rate as ultra-fast to molasses slow&smooth.
- 8-step pilot-selectable dimmer for day, dusk, and night.

Looking for a mini glass panel with Turn Coordinator, Altimeter, VSI, and optional ASI (0–220 kt / 0–250 mph)? See our Mini Glass SafePanel instruments.
We're introducing our new Mini Glass SafePanel, which uses the same core products as the Turn Coordinator, but adds an Altimeter and a VSI to our Turn Coordinator (2 1/4" and 3 1/8") versions, with backup battery that runs when ship power is dead!
This is a great value for home builders and an excellent choice to install beside far more expensive, high-dollar glass instruments as a backup. This product is designed for use in experimental, ultralight, and Light Sport aircraft (with manufacturer approval).

copy of Turn Coordinator Family
Any pilot who has ever wanted to add a turn coordinator to an experimental aircraft panel has been put off by the complexity, weight, reliability, and price of traditional electric or vacuum units. The Radiant Panel Turn Coordinator solves these problems.
Compared to all other Turn Coordinators, this unit also provides a digital indication of degrees-per-second during the turn. It is also inexpensive.
It utilizes a solid state gyro and accelerometer, weighs less than 2 ounces, attaches to any aircraft ship power system, and allows for easy in flight calibration at the push of a button.
The unit graphic design looks exactly like existing turn coordinators, so there is no learning curve for the pilot. Also, unlike some products, the unit’s gyro will stabilize even if brought to power under aircraft upset conditions.
What's new (and why it matters)
• Higher frame rate = fluid motion. The airplane symbol and bubble now move with smoother step, so trend and magnitude are obvious at a glance.
• Smoother graphics and fonts. Refined anti-aliasing and subtle dithering—our neon blue theme—increases perceived resolution and legibility.
• Intuitive power watchdog. Simple green/yellow/red indicator provides a warning for power droop.
• Selectable Gyro Filter (0–3). A brand new idea and feature! Tap both buttons to choose response: 0 = snappy/aerobatic, 1=normal, 2= slow, 3 = molasses smooth & slow.
• Improved temperature compensation. Updated model to keep the digital yaw centered as cockpit temperature changes.
• Clean two-button interface. Left button = DIM (short press). Right button = CALibrate (long press ≥7 s). Both buttons (short press) = Change Filter, from levels 0–3.
