A familiar altimeter
The altimeter view combines a large two-hand dial with a digital altitude reading. A dedicated analog VSI and digital vertical-speed reading show climb or descent alongside it. Altitude, vertical speed, temperature, density altitude, the pressure setting, and battery voltage are visible together.
Responsive altitude updates and smoothed vertical-speed indication make changes easier to follow while keeping the display steady and readable.
The yellow pressure setting works like the Kollsman setting on a conventional altimeter. Tap the left or right button to adjust it to the current local setting. SafeAlt retains the pressure setting and your selected view between uses.
Altitude history that scales itself
The new history view gives recent altitude changes a visual context. Climb, level-off, and descent appear as an easy-to-follow trace, with older readings on the left and the newest on the right.
The vertical scale adjusts automatically, and current altitude and vertical speed remain visible beside the graph. SafeAlt collects history in all three operating views, so you can switch to the graph when you want to see the recent trend.
History covers approximately one hour, with a point recorded about every 36 seconds. It displays the trend for the current session and clears when the instrument restarts.
Vertical speed with greater emphasis
The new VSI focus view was developed in response to a prospective customer’s request. It gives climb and descent rate on the large analog dial and a prominent numerical readout, while altitude, temperature, and density altitude remain visible.
Choose an analog range of ±2,000 or ±1,000 feet per minute. The lower range gives more needle movement for the same rate, making smaller changes easier to see. Metric ranges are ±10 or ±5 meters per second. The digital rate continues beyond the analog dial’s range.
Density altitude with temperature in view
SafeAlt continuously estimates density altitude using pressure altitude and the pressure sensor’s own factory-calibrated temperature measurement. The temperature used in the calculation appears directly above the density-altitude reading, giving you useful context for preflight assessment of takeoff and climb performance.
The temperature sensor is inside the enclosure. For a useful preflight reading, let SafeAlt acclimate to shaded outside air. Use your aircraft’s performance information to determine how the conditions affect your flight.
Calibration you can retain
A stored altitude correction lets you adjust a persistent offset against a trusted reference by up to ±500 feet. The correction also feeds the density-altitude calculation. A separate, stored temperature trim lets you match the temperature reading to a trusted thermometer. Both adjustments are kept in Setup, away from everyday pressure and view changes.
US METRIC and ICAO Units
One Setup selection changes the units throughout the instrument. All three operating views are available in every profile.
ICAO is especially useful when local altimeter settings are given in hPa, altitude is expressed in feet, and climb or descent rates are expressed in feet per minute.
Simple Operation
The controls focus on pressure, view selection and brightness. SafeAlt provides visual indications only, without an altitude alarm or buzzer.

Portable Power and a Refined Case
SafeAlt runs from its rechargeable internal battery and can also operate while connected to USB power. Battery voltage and a battery symbol stay visible; a full charge reads approximately 4.2 V. Automatic low-battery dimming helps conserve power and provides a visible reminder to recharge. The display starts in bright mode unless the battery is low.
The smaller, more attractive 2027 case complements the clearer display choices. Whether it is an addition to your own flight bag or a gift for a pilot, SafeAlt offers useful altitude information in a self-contained instrument with familiar controls.
