Visual Angle of Attack

Our new Visual AOA provides direct visual feedback of the aircraft’s Angle Of Attack.  Any pitch change or power change is immediately reflected in the indication. 

 

When viewed in flight, the responsiveness to pitch change is immediate, and the vane position precisely shows the changes in airflow and AOA. The best example of this is a 30 second demo clip. In this video, James manipulates the pitch of the aircraft, thus causing the AOA vane to show the effect immediately and precisely.

It is available with a generic mount for the leading edge of aircraft. A top-side mount for Sonex (low-wing) aircraft is also available.

 

This new product is affordable and useful for transition training and flight instruction. It is also an excellent product for pilot insight, allowing pilots to see what they’ve been told and learned.

 

To be clear, this is an experimental product, and we’ve provided a mount for Sonex aircraft (low wing) and also a generic leading edge mount for high wing aircraft.

 

The product is supplied in unpainted semi-kit form (some assembly required). The vane is balanced at the factory, thus allowing super-smooth indications while in clear or bumpy air. The extension tube is ultralight and stiff carbon fiber.
